Our plan for reopening school during the time of COVID-19 is outlined in the “Learning by Design” document which was released on June 30. As stated in the plan, the Traditional Learning model would be offered as long as the spread of COVID-19 fell into the no/low or minimal/moderate categories. If the spread became substantial in the community, a building or a classroom, we would move to remote learning for the entire system, for a building or for a classroom.

When the document was released on June 30, the community spread was in the minimal/moderate category, so parents were offered the choice of Traditional Learning. Over the last few days, the community spread has been categorized as substantial, so we are following our plan and moving to the digital learning model for all students.

Please know that our CLMS team is prepared and excited for a successful start! The data will drive the decisions of the Douglas County School System. We have a plan in place that will accommodate learning for whichever degree of spread we are experiencing in Douglas County. The safety of our students, parents, and staff is our top priority. Trust that we are ready to serve and support. Thanks for your patience and flexibility. We love our students!  See you next Tuesday on our Google Meet session!

Sincerely,

Principal Whitt
